Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has spoken about the idea of changing formations, ahead of the club’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich and amidst the Roman club’s poor form in Serie A.
Sarri’s side have been disappointing in the league this season and it seems like a farcry from last season, where they qualified for the Champions League. They take on Bayern Munich later today in a huge clash for the side and it could well be the biggest game of their season so far.
Sarri spoke to reporters ahead of the game later today and he had something to say about Luis Alberto and about the idea of changing formations, which fans have been clamouring for in recent weeks.
The Italian said: “Luis Alberto is our most attacking midfielder, he comes deeper to get the ball, he really likes to play the ball. Luis can’t be the attacking midfielder I want, I want an attacking midfielder who attacks spaces. When a team loses a match we always talk about changing the formation, changing formation seems like bullsh**t to me. Lazio are averaging two points, we’re in difficulty because we made a complete mistake in the first part of the season. Big mistakes that we’re still paying for in the league.”
He spoke further about the situation of the club and how this season has gone. Sarri was honest and said: “Moments of heaviness inevitably emerge, especially when you work for 3-4 years with the same coach. We should never forget that we play a game, and the game is played by having fun. I’m not talking about becoming superficial, I think we need to go back to having a sense of fun on the pitch with all the responsibilities we have to take on. If the child shuts down, the adult also shuts down, he makes less money and makes those who follow him have less fun. We are privileged, we do something for work that we would not have done for free, even if we paid for it.”
