Nico Schlotterbeck made a full recovery to play every minute of Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg last Sunday. Instantly, the Westphalians looked defensively solid.

On the matter, Sky Germany interviewed head coach Niko Kovač about the 25-year-old’s contract and whether an extension is in progress behind the scenes.

“That’s a question for Sebastian Kehl. I don’t know how far the discussions have processed. As a coach, thought, I would be very pleased if he extends.

“They should step on the gas. I am assuming it [an extension] will work out,” said the 53-year-old gaffer, while talking to Sky journalist Patrick Berger.

Kovač later provided a squad personnel update with positive news regarding summer signing Fabio Silva. However, two other players’ contract situations look dire according to BILD.

The tabloid reports that the chances of an extension for Niklas Süle and Emre Can are becoming increasingly unlikely as the duo have struggled to feature so far this campaign.
