Borussia Dortmund ground out a narrow 1-0 against FC Augsburg tonight. Niko Kovač was more thank satisfied with his team’s efforts.
“Today we saw exactly what I expected: a hard-fought match from both sides. We didn’t quite manage to play the way I had envisioned.
“But that was certainly also due to Augsburg who made life difficult for us. Given how the goal came about, we were just that little bit luckier today.
“Even if it wasn’t pretty, you simply have to win these close games, and we did that. Now we can concentrate on the next task,” he said.
Pascal Groß, who was afforded a rare start in midfield this evening, emphasized how things have changed since the 2024/25 campaign.
“Winning games like this more often didn’t quite work out last season. We’ll take it in stride during these tough weeks,” Groß said.
Dortmund will now turn their attentions to UEFA Champions League action as they travel to face Manchester City on Wednesday, 5 November.
