Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell has met with Sean Dyche to discuss the vacant Ibrox managers job, according to talkSPORT.
The Glasgow giants put an end to the Russell Martin experiment on Sunday night following a 1-1 draw away at Falkirk, which left the team eighth in the Scottish Premiership after seven games, with just one victory so far.
Several candidates are being explored as potential replacements for the Englishman, and it has now emerged that things have gone one step further with one option with a face-to-face meeting held.
Rangers: Thelwell Meets Dyche Over Ibrox Job
Dyche, who has been described as “incredible” by Pep Guardiola, is currently a free agent after leaving Everton earlier this year, with the Toffees battling relegation at the time.
Thelwell and Dyche worked together at Goodison Park and have a strong relationship, and according to Alex Crook the two have now met to discuss the Ibrox role.
“I’m getting mixed messages when it comes to Gerrard’s willingness to go back to Ibrox.
“I know they made a real play to get him in the summer, the 49ers group who now run Rangers and he wasn’t willing to take the job at that stage.
“Some of my sources are telling me his stance may have changed and he actually might now be ready to return. Others are saying there are still one or two tax issues over in the Middle East that he would have to deal with first.
“The other name that has come to my attention this morning is that of Sean Dyche.
“In fact I’ve been told that Kevin Thelwell, now the sporting director at Rangers – he’s got an awful lot of flack from the supporters over the past few weeks and months – has met with Sean Dyche.
“There is a connection there as they worked together at Everton, so that’s a possibility.”
Rangers have also been considering a move for former manager Steven Gerrard, while Danny Rohl and Kevin Muscat have also been identified as potential options.
The club are yet to make a final decision on their top target for the role, but it seems as though Dyche could well be in the mix for a move to Glasgow.
