Chelsea are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz.
Spanish shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga kept a clean sheet as the Premier League side advanced to the last 8 of the competition. It was the player from Ondárroa’s second clean sheet in a row as he looks to be part of Luis de la Fuente’s new Spain squad, report Mundo Deportivo.
Spain play against Norway (25 March) and Scotland (28 March) and De la Fuente will name his squad on Friday 17 March.
Kepa kept out a Marco Reus free-kick and in the second half, he made a great save to deny Marius Wolf and prevent the game from going into extra time. To top his night off, he wore the captain’s armband – also for the second game in a row – after Mateo Kovacic was substituted.
The presence of Kepa, whose last appearance for Spain came on 7 October 2020, in De la Fuente’s squad is almost a guarantee. The question now is: who will be La Roja’s new number one?
