Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 6-0 thrashing of Wolfsburg to move back within one point of Bayern Munich, Karim Adeyemi discussed how he was ‘upset’ after missing out on a hat-trick.
Speaking via Kicker, Adeyemi admitted: “First of all, it’s about the team and we won. But I was very upset for myself that I couldn’t score three goals.”
Adeyemi opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund after 14 minutes with a header, again showcasing his jumping reach to outhead Wolfsburg’s Josuha Guilavogui. The 21-year-old would then score his second, Dortmund’s fifth of the evening, in the 59th minute before having the opportunity to complete his first hat-trick, but missed from the spot after Jude Bellingham was brought down in the area.
Despite scoring a brace, Bellingham was quick to console Adeyemi who was visibly upset when replaced by Gio Reyna in the 69th minute. Dortmund’s players on the bench saw the funny side of his reaction as they moved back to within one point of Bayern Munich with just three games remaining.
Adeyemi has been in excellent form of late with six goal contributions (3 goals, 3 assists) in his last six Bundesliga games.
Dortmund play Borussia Mönchengladbach, Augsburg and Mainz in their remaining three games.
