Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini set to announce his retirement today

Former Juventus star and current LAFC defender Giorgio Chiellini is set to announce his retirement from the sport.

Chiellini recently played what he described as his last possible game for LAFC and Goal Italia’s Romeo Agresti has reported that he is now set to hang up his boots. The defender could announce his farewell from playing the sport later today and it can actually be made official in the afternoon.

Chiellini is already planning for his future post-retirement and his aim is to become a Juventus manager in the future, with his chances of returning to the Bianconeri likely to increase once he announces his retirement. The expectation is that the announcement could be made at 4pm Italian time.

So far, Juve have made no calls to bring back Chiellini but La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the defender could actually reside in the United States for another year and recharges his batteries before returning to Italy.

Chiellini, during his time at Juventus, made 561 appearances and scored 36 goals, winning 9 consecutive Scudetti. Furthermore, he also won 5 Italian Super Cups and 5 Italian Cups with the Old Lady.
