Sevilla were defeated 3-0 at home by Barcelona last night.
In his post-match interview which appeared on Mundo Deportivo, Julen Lopetegui evaluated Sevilla’s performance:
“The team made an extraordinary effort, they wanted to go out and take risks and I think that’s good for the future. We are paying the price, with players who still have to find their form. But I want to keep this character.”
Despite not winning a single game so far this season, Los Nervionenses’ coach had no desire to put the blame on his squad:
“It’s time to look ahead. Because I believe in this team and we can build a new team. We have to make the most of all the good things that the team does and will continue to do. It’s about insisting, believing and looking to the next game. At times we were superior to a great team. We have to be more decisive.”
Lopetegui also praised the Sevilla fans who showed their support to the team throughout the game:
“The fans were great, they helped us as always. We are very grateful.”
