Jonathan Rowe (22) and Adrien Rabiot (30) have been temporarily excluded from Olympique de Marseille’s first-team squad following a heated dressing room confrontation after Friday’s 1-0 defeat at Rennes, according to RMC Sport‘s report earlier today.
Details have now emerged from regional paper La Provence, claiming that the Euro U21 winner allegedly slapped Rabiot. The incident reportedly took place shortly after 11 pm, as journalists in the mixed zone heard raised voices from the OM dressing room.
La Provence reports that tensions flared when Rowe, feeling targeted by comments on his involvement in the match, allegedly slapped Rabiot. The situation reportedly escalated into a physical exchange before manager Roberto De Zerbi, his staff, and sporting director Mehdi Benatia intervened to calm the players.
Marseille kicked off their 2025-2026 season with a defeat to Stade Rennais, after conceding to an injury-time strike from Ludovic Blas after dominating possession of the ball.
The club has not yet confirmed how long the exclusions of Rabiot and Rowe will last, with Les Phocéens facing Paris FC at the Stade Vélodrome next Saturday.
