According to Le Progrès, Olympique Lyonnais owner John Textor is still looking to complete a takeover of an English club despite his recent failed takeover of Premier League club Everton. The Eagle Football Group CEO attempted to finalise a takeover of the Merseyside club. However, Farhad Moshiri decided that the offer proposed by Dan Friedkin would be better for the Toffees.
Textor is a minority shareholder of fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace. Nevertheless, the American businessman has had a long-standing desire to add an English club to his portfolio of football clubs. The list currently includes Lyon, Botafogo and Molenbeek.
Difficulty selling his shareholding in the London-based club was an issue in Textor being able to complete a takeover of Everton, and it would still be an issue should he enter into negotiations with another Premier League club or English club. It remains to be seen which clubs the American would be interested in taking over.
