Jamal Musiala named Germany’s men’s player of the year for 2024

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has been named player of the year for the German men’s national team with 56% of the vote.

The award was voted for by the fans with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz coming second with 38% of the vote and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz finishing third with just 6%.

A total of 145,000 votes were counted.

Musiala was Germany’s joint top goal scorer at Euro 2024 as was also named in the Team of the Tournament.

The 21-year-old was a key part of the side that reached the quarter finals and has scored five goals and recorded five assists throughout 2024 for his country.

His current club Bayern Munich are in the process of working to extend his contract as his current deal expires in 2026.

The extension is likely to last until 2030, and could be the biggest contract offered to a player in Bayern Munich’s history, according to BILD.
