Jake Paul Names Only Active Boxer He Refuses to Fight

Jake Paul has fought a plethora of stars throughout his boxing career to date, but he once revealed the one professional fighter that he would never consider challenging.

The YouTube sensation was in negotiations to fight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez back in May of this year. However, Turki Alalshikh offered the Mexican superstar a lucrative four-fight deal, ending the possibility of a clash with The Problem Child.

After negotiations with Canelo fell through, Paul turned his attentions to a British heavyweight in Anthony Joshua, who he claimed he could beat if the two were to ever share the ring.

Unsurprisingly, though, that fight never came to fruition, with AJ sidelined through an injury and Paul eventually turning his attentions to Gervonta Davis, who he is now set to fight in an exhibition match next month.

While Paul claimed he would beat two-time heavyweight champion Joshua were the two to ever share the ring together, there is one man that even he feels is out of his league – David Benavidez.

Paul invited Benavidez on to his podcast, where he told him: “When my manager is talking about fights, the only no is you. I will not fight this f****** guy. He is a monster, bro. I would f***** die.

“I want to fight Anthony Joshua because I know I will f***** beat Anthony Joshua’s a***. He doesn’t have a chin, and he has no skill, and he is stiff. I love you, Anthony, and we are friends, but I want to fight you. I will beat Canelo. I will beat a lot of people. I would not beat David Benavidez.”

Jake Paul’s Boxing Career Compared to David Benavidez

Paul last stepped into the ring against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, defeating the Mexican via unanimous decision after 10 rounds on the 28th of June. It was his 13th professional fight and his 12th win, with his lone loss so far coming against Tommy Fury back in 2023.

Benavidez, meanwhile, is undefeated in his 30 professional fights, winning 24 of those by knockout, which has led to him becoming the WBC interim light heavyweight champion.

The American attended the rematch between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev in Saudi Arabia in February of this year, but after the former won the fight via majority decision, Turki Alalshikh is pushing for a rubber match between the pair.

Having previously said he wanted to make a fight between Benavidez and Bivol happen, the Saudi minister changed his mind, as he told Ring Magazine: “I am no longer interested in Bivol-Benavidez and I will not bid on it. I think Bivol knows who has delivered for him and who hasn’t. My advice to Bivol: don’t be late because every day something changes.”

Perhaps in the meantime, Benavidez could persuade Paul for a fight.
