After a fracture of the eye socket kept Aleksandar Pavlovic out of part of Bayern Munich’s pre-season, the central midfielder has now been fully fit for some time.
The 21-year-old has had his share of bad luck with injuries and setbacks. Most notably, he missed last year’s European Championship due to tonsillitis and also spent much of the spring sidelined with mononucleosis.
Now feeling fully fit, Pavlovic wants to stop dwelling on the setbacks of the past.
“It wasn’t recurring setbacks. It was an eye injury; the story with my tonsils is long behind me,” the midfielder told Kicker when asked about his injury history.
“It annoys me that it keeps being brought up. I’ve put it behind me. I’m only looking forward and giving everything to stay injury-free,” added Pavlovic, who is currently with the German national team.
Having formed an impressive partnership with Joshua Kimmich in Bayern’s central midfield this season, Pavlovic is eager to play alongside his teammate in the national team as well.
The 21-year-old is hoping to start when Germany face Luxembourg on Friday in the first of two World Cup qualifiers this month.
“I basically always want to play,” he stressed.
