Last night Celta Vigo defeated Cádiz 3-0 at the Estadio de Balaídos, which saw Iago Aspas equal Pahiño’s 75-year-old record.
Os Celestes comfortably beat their visitors from Andalucía, thanks to a brace from Aspas and a goal from Óscar Rodríguez.
The 35-year-old has already scored five goals in the first four games of La Liga, having netted a goal in each of Celta Vigo’s matches in the league so far this season.
As noted by Marca, He becomes the first Celta Vigo player to score a goal in each of the club’s first four La Liga games since Pahiño, equalling a record that stood for 75 years.
Aspas is showing no sign of stopping and is hoping to catch the eye of Luis Enrique in order to get selected for Spain’s World Cup squad later this year. He has scored six goals in 18 games for Spain and he hasn’t made an appearance for the national team since 2019.
