Following the announcement that Lyon’s appeal against relegation to Ligue 2 had been successful, Michelle Kang held a press conference to discuss the plans for the club moving forward and commented on the involvement of former president John Textor.
The Eagle Football Group CEO resigned from his position as president of OL Groupe after it was announced following the initial decision to relegate Les Gones to the second division of French football. Textor confirmed in an interview with Globo that he intended to step back from the day-to-day management of the Ligue 1 club after he had failed to navigate several meetings with the DNCG successfully.
Kang, who is the president of OL Lyonnes (formerly OL Féminin), was appointed as the American businessman’s successor, and Michael Gerlinger assumed the role of General Manager. Textor remains a shareholder at Les Gones but will not be involved in the management at OL, the businesswoman has confirmed.
Answering questions regarding the Crystal Palace shareholder’s involvement at Lyon moving forward, Kang said, “I have 100% control over both organisations, no one else will be able to change our day-to-day decisions.”
