Vancouver Whitecaps completed their second transfer from Bundesliga.
Hamburger SV are finally back to the Bundesliga, but their long-serving captain will not be part of their historic season. Sebastian Schonlau joins MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps on a transfer fee of €150k.
The former SC Paderborn center-back was appointed club captain immediately after signing for HSV in 2021. He has featured in 102 2. Bundesliga games for the club in the past four seasons.
Vancouver Whitecaps already signed free agent Thomas Müller last week. The Canadian team is currently third in MLS’ Western Conference. Meanwhile, Hamburg retained their tradition of appointing new signings as skipper. They already announced that Yussuf Poulsen will be the captain this season.
