Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Sunday provided an update on the wellbeing of defensive star Ronald Araújo.
Stopper Araújo, for his part, was of course forced into a premature departure from Barcelona’s last outing.
En route to a 4-1 drubbing of Sevilla in La Liga, the Uruguayan international pulled up with what appeared to be an ankle problem, before limping from the field of play.
An ensuing round of medical tests confirmed that Araújo had not suffered any sort of serious injury, a welcome boost for a player fresh off a prior lengthy spell on the sidelines.
He was nevertheless forced to sit out training across much of the week, dealing with lasting swelling in his ankle.
After Araújo was spotted back in group training this weekend, though, the subject of his status to face Rayo Vallecano on Monday night was put to boss Hansi Flick.
And the German tactician went on to confirm:
“Ronald Araújo will be in the squad list. Tomorrow we will see if he plays or not.”
