A headline member of the midfield ranks at Girona has on Friday provided an update on his future.
The player in question? Aleix García.
Engine room standout García has of course proven himself one of the star performers in what has been a historic campaign for Girona.
Featuring from the off in all but one of the Blanquivermells’ La Liga outings, the 26-year-old has shone bright, on his way to three goals and six assists.
Such exploits have given rise to inevitable speculation surrounding García’s future beyond the summer, amid links with a whole host of clubs from across Europe.
Catalan rivals Barcelona, for one, are long-term admirers of the Spanish international, tipped to launch an assault on his signature with a view to next season.
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s season finale against Granada on Friday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future was put to García himself, once more.
And though the midfielder was adamant that he is fully focused on matters at the Estadi Montilivi, García also admitted that football is unpredictable:
“I have a contract here. I only think about Girona, but football takes many turns.”
