La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have this afternoon announced the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.
The player to have taken his talents to Anoeta with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign? Sheraldo Becker.
The name of frontman Becker has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in San Sebastián for several weeks now.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Real Sociedad brass had set their sights firmly on the signature of the talented attacker.
The 2022/23 season proved something of a breakout one for Becker, after he racked up 12 goals and 10 assists for high-flying Union Berlin.
And though the Suriname international has since failed to replicate such impressive production this time round, his abilities had long caught the eye of those at Anoeta.
In turn, on the back of weeks of negotiations between the two clubs, Becker has today officially departed Union Berlin, to link up with Imanol Alguacil’s Sociedad.
Their latest addition is understood to have set La Real back a fee of just €3 million, with Becker’s contract in Germany’s capital having been due to expire in the summer.
The 28-year-old, meanwhile, has put pen to paper on a contract through the summer of 2026.
