When Real Madrid played out a 1-1 draw with their city rivals Atlético Madrid last night, the world tuned in to see who would come out on top.
Football is truly the world’s game, and people from all walks of life come together to enjoy the beautiful game, and last night was no exception.
Current Mercedes F1 driver George Russell was spotted in attendance at the Bernabéu, and talk quickly turned to whether the Englishman might be a Real Madrid fan.
The rumours were quickly clarified when Russell shared a story from his childhood: “When I was 7, I had a Real Madrid shirt with David Beckham on the back. So Real Madrid has always been in my heart.”
George Russell isn’t the only F1 driver to support Real Madrid either, as Williams driver Carlos Sainz and Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso also support Los Blancos.
Russell was also videoed meeting with fellow Englishman Jude Bellingham, as the 21-year-old midfielder gifted the racing driver his own shirt.
