Roma continue to analyze the situation between Marseille and promising central midfielder Ismael Kone as the Giallorossi remain keen on acquiring the 23-year-old Canadian international, Get Italian Football News can exclusively reveal.

The Capital club are eager to boost the quality of the squad in the middle of the pitch as Roma continue to push for Palmeiras star Richard Rios and have made contact with Brighton for 24-year-old Danish attacking midfielder Matt O’Riley, as revealed by Gianluca Di Marzio.

However, sources have confirmed that Roma continue to be intrigued by Kone and a possibility of acquiring the services of the former Watford midfielder’s services cannot be ruled out.

After his six-month loan-spell to Stade Rennes having expired, the Canadian international is set to depart Marseille after having had a fall-out with coach Roberto De Zerbi last season.

Ismael Kone is one player that is familiar to Roma as the Giallorossi have expressed their interest in the Canadian star since last season. The capital club contemplated on attempting to secure a permanent transfer that would include central defender Evan N’Dicka as a counter-part, however the swap deal never materialized and remained a hypothetical idea.

However, with former Rennes sporting director Ricky Massara, the one behind the loan of Kone to Stade Rennes from Marseille, now part of the Giallorossi board, Roma continue to examine the situation of the Canadian international to see if there is a possibility to obtain his services either through a permanent transfer or a loan formula that was similar to the one of Stade Rennes.
