Ex-France boss Corinne Diacre set to take charge of Marseille Women’s side

Former France women’s national team manager Corinne Diacre is set to return to the touchline as head coach of Olympique de Marseille Féminin, according to RMC Sport.

The 50-year-old has been without a post since her dismissal from Les Bleues in March 2023, but she had made clear in recent months that she was eager to return to club football. In April, Diacre signed with agent Christophe Hutteau, publicly expressing that “the pitch was missing” from her life.

Her name had been linked to several clubs – including PSG – but negotiations never materialised. OM have now made her their number one choice after dismissing Frédéric Gonçalves in late August, just ten days before the start of the Division 1 Féminine season. His assistant Dalin Anrifani has been leading the team on an interim basis while the club sought a permanent appointment.

OM Féminin were recently rebranded as Les Marseillaises this season, following a trend set by Lyon to distinguish the women’s team from the men’s. Diacre’s tenure with France was mixed: she led the team through two major tournaments, including the 2022 European Championship, but faced criticism for inconsistent results and internal tensions. Diacre was previously the first female coach to manage a male side in Clermont Foot in 2014.
