Injuries are part and parcel of the footballing schedule. Some teams in the Premier League are struck heavily, while there are a handful that manage to go the entirety of the campaign relatively unscathed.
Last season, the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United endured their fair share of injury woes – as evidenced by their poor, by their own respective standards, finishes at the end of the campaign.
Now, more than halfway into the current 2024/25 campaign, there are a plethora of injuries that have crept up – from the high-profile injury to Martin Odegaard to the lesser-known knock of James Milner.
Here, using the information provided by Premier Injuries, as per Sky Sports, are all 20 Premier League teams ranked on the severity of their injury problems with figures based on the number of injuries each side has faced this term that has seen players miss at least one game, along with how many days every player combined at the club have endured on the sidelines.

Quintet of Teams Have Had 20 Injuries or More
Brighton and Arsenal among those
A quintet of sides in the top tier – Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Ipswich Town – have arguably been the most impacted by injuries. While they have had varying numbers of missed games between them, these clubs have had to endure at least 20 different injuries this term so far.
Brighton, led by one of the youngest managers in Premier League history, have suffered 23 injuries at the time of writing – Solly March, James Milner and Joel Veltman are among those – as they vie for the European spots under the fresh stewardship of Fabian Hurzeler, as both talismanic forwards Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck have also been out at some point throughout the campaign. In terms of days missed, the Seagulls are more than 250 clear of their nearest challengers too.
Aston Villa have also had their fair share of injury concerns. But while the likes of Matty Cash, Boubacar Kamara, Leon Bailey, and Tyrone Mings have all had their doubts in recent months, their list of absences has shortened drastically in the last week or so, with just Pau Torres being the only player who won’t be back before February at the time of writing. Meanwhile, Tottenham and Arsenal, though operating in different parts of the table, have both endured 21 and 20 injuries apiece, with Martin Odegaard and Micky Van de Ven’s absences the most noteworthy.

Newly promoted Ipswich would have been desperate to keep everyone away from the treatment room in order to have everyone fit and firing in their challenge of staying up in the big leagues, but have suffered the same amount of injuries as the Gunners.
Liverpool Benefitting From Few Injuries
The Reds’ title charge has been aided by a healthy squad
Something that is key in any title race is how fit the contending squads remain throughout the course of a campaign. Should any of the challengers get struck by an injury crisis, it could have a long-term effect on how they fare at the summit of the standings.
As things stand, both Manchester City and Liverpool – led by Pep Guardiola and Arne Slot, respectively – have had very different fortunes, and it has shown in their league standings. Guardiola’s men incredibly sit outside the top four, but have had 19 injuries to deal with, placing them as the sixth-highest team in the league on this list.
As for the Reds, in the grand scheme of things there is very little to complain about. Though the likes of Alisson and Diogo Jota have missed out at times, many of the key players have remained fresh, and only one other team has suffered from fewer absentees all season.
The team in question is Nottingham Forest, who have shocked everyone with just how well they have managed this term. The form of players like Chris Wood has come as a complete surprise, but is partially as a result of just how well they have managed their squad, as only eight injuries have been noted for the Garibaldi as they mount an unlikely charge to the summit.
European Challengers Fairing Well
Newcastle and Chelsea have both seen less than 15 injuries
With the likes of Chelsea as good as they have been in recent years and Newcastle turning their form back to where it was two years ago, the race for Europe is hotting up once again with both Enzo Maresca and Eddie Howe’s sides believing they have what it takes for Champions League qualification.
The two have fared relatively well in comparison to the rest of the league. The Blues have only had 12 injuries this campaign according to the report, and while this has led to a total of 428 days being missed, it makes them the fourth most fortunate team in the entire division. That being said, they are still routinely without captain Reece James, who has been adding to his legacy of being one of the best injury-prone players.

The Swede has managed a run of eight Premier League games in a row finding the back of the net, teaching other teams in the league how important it is to have a clinical number nine.
West Ham Bottom of the Pile For Days Missed
The Hammers and Man United have underperformed considering the health of their squads
In terms of teams who have really put forward some disappointing displays considering just how lucky they have been with injuries, West Ham United and Manchester United would have to be right up there. Graham Potter may have only just arrived at the London Stadium, but his predecessor, Julen Lopetegui, could have no complaints about his sacking after leading the Hammers to a sub-par start to the season – made worse by the fact that no team has seen fewer combined days missed this season (280).
The same can also be said of Ruben Amorim’s men. Whether it was him or Erik ten Hag in the dugout, the contrast in the Red Devils’ injury fortunes this season compared to last is night and day. Yet, they still sit in the bottom half of the table and are failing to convince anyone they have what it takes to get anywhere close to European football.
