In an interview published in today’s L’Équipe, French midfielder Éric-Junior Dina Ebimbe has notably discussed his loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain, which is set to become permanent this summer.
The 22-year-old, who made 10 Ligue 1 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino last season, explains that he was informed at the start of last summer by Christophe Galtier that he would not be in his plans, which led to his move to the Bundesliga.
After successive loan spells at Le Havre and then Dijon, the former French youth international made the move across the Rhine on an initial loan deal, which could become permanent for a €6.5m fee provided the reigning Europa League champions stay in the top flight this season – they currently sit in 7th place.
Dina Ebimbe explains that despite his disappointment at missing out on the PSG squad, he is happy to be at a club where he looks set to stay for several seasons to come. This year, the Frenchman has 2 goals and an assist in 13 Bundesliga appearances.
“This time, I wanted to look to the long term. I’ve had a peculiar career, where I’ve only spent one season at each club. At 22 years of age, it was time for me to impose myself within a long-term project. I’ve got a perfect understanding with the management and the coach here.”
