Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike is set to be one of the hottest properties in the transfer market this summer window.
The Frenchman moved to Germany after a torrid time at Paris Saint-Germain and restarted his promising career. He spent last term acclimatising himself to his new surroundings but has exploded this season.
Ekitike’s performances for Die Adler have caught the eyes of several clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United. He showed those Premier League clubs what he can do against English top-flight opposition today with a terrific performance against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring against Tottenham in the sixth minute after Frankfurt pinched the ball off James Maddison. He picked up the ball on the left and jinxed past half-hearted challenges before curling a low effort into the net from outside the box. It was his 20th goal this season.
Ekitike likes to pull wide, forcing defenders into uncomfortable positions when they try to follow him. He can also spin off them if they get too close, making him quite the handful for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
The former Reims man completed 100% of his dribbling attempts and won five of his 12 duels while showing excellent link-up play in North London.
“Ekitike is the real deal,” BBC writer Nizaar Kinsella enthused as he dazzled in the centre-forward role.
In a market where wanted Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is poised to cost an arm and a leg, Ekitike is a viable alternative, especially if prospective suitors can knock down that €80 million asking price.

The game finished 1-1, with Pedro Porro pulling Tottenham back into the game. Frankfurt keeper Kaua Santos made incredible saves to keep his side in it. The Brazilian shot-stopper, like Ekitike, will likely be sold for big money soon.
Frankfurt and Ekitike can deliver a sucker punch to Tottenham in Germany, and potential suitors will be scouting the former keenly.
