For next season, Real Madrid’s number eight jersey will become available, with Toni Kroos leaving after the Champions League final ahead of his retirement later this summer. It may not be the only number available, as Nacho Fernandez’s 6 could also be free.
Nacho’s future has been heavily speculated upon over the last few weeks. It had been widely-reported that the 34-year-old would be leaving Real Madrid in the summer, although the situation is more unclear now, and he could yet sign a new one-year contract in the coming weeks.
If Nacho does depart, Relevo have reported that Eduardo Camavinga will wear the number six from next season onwards. The French midfielder currently adorns 12, which he will wear whilst starting for Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Moving to the number six would further solidify the trust that Real Madrid officials have in Camavinga. They see him as being an indispensable player for the present and future, and with good reason.
