Unai Emery is determined to improve his Aston Villa side, and he is using the Spanish market to do so. Having already secured the signing of Alex Moreno from Real Betis this month, Emery wants more through the door before the transfer deadline next week.
Villa’s next target is Athletic Club forward Nico Williams. The 20-year-old is one of the best young talents in La Liga, and has already made his debut for the Spanish national team. Emery is a huge fan of his countryman, and wants to bring him to the Premier League.
The Daily Mail, as per MD, have reported that Villa are willing to pay Williams’ release clause, which is set at €50m. However, the forward has rejected the opportunity to move, and will instead remain at Athletic until at least the end of the season.
Williams will undoubtedly go on to do great things in football, so Aston Villa will be disappointed that the player has turned them down.
