Didier Digard tells Nice players to focus on league campaign amid Christophe Galtier racism allegations

The build-up to Nice’s Conference League quarter-final tie against Basel has inevitably been overshadowed by the allegations that former manager Christophe Galtier made racist remarks, accusations made in an email which surfaced on Tuesday night, attributed to former director Julien Fournier.

Fournier, who left the club in the summer, has denied being responsible for the contents of the email transpiring, while Galtier, through a statement made by his lawyer to AFP, has refuted the allegations “in the strongest terms“.

With Les Aiglons taking to the field in Swtizerland for the first leg of their European tie, coach Didier Digard has reportedly told his players not to speak about Galtier, according to RMC.

Digard is said to have told his players about his own experiences with the now-Paris Saint-Germain manager, with alleged tensions between the two being the focus of further reports that emerged last night, notably in Nice-Matin.

The current Nice manager, who was in charge of the reserve team last year, at the time of the alleged events, is said to have told his players that “the truth will come out“, as he indicated in his earlier press conference, but that for the time being they were to focus on the rest of the campaign. Many of the players, RMC Sport add, are unhappy about Galtier’s former Lille players José Fonte and Burak Yılmaz coming to his defence.
