New Olympique de Marseille defender Benjamin Pavard (28) insists he will not be unsettled by Roberto De Zerbi’s demanding and passionate management style.
The Italian coach has been for his intensity on the sidelines and his no-compromise approach on the training ground. But Pavard, who joined OM this summer from Inter Milan, explained that he has already been exposed to similar figures in his career at a press conference transcribed by RMC Sport.
Speaking at a press conference, the France international reflected on his experience in Serie A under Simone Inzaghi. “De Zerbi volcanic? I think you’ve never seen Simone Inzaghi. The first time in Italy, I told myself he was crazy. But in fact, these are people who are passionate about their job. It can be a bit surprising in France, but they are real enthusiasts. I can’t wait to start this adventure with the coach,” Pavard said.
Pavard joined Marseille on deadline day on loan with an option to buy set at €16m. The France international and 2018 World Cup winner started his career in his home country, coming up through the ranks at Lille OSC. During the last window, he was linked with a return to his hometown club but joined Marseille after Lille informed the plater that they couldn’t afford his wages.
