Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for quite some time now.
The right-back has entered the final year of his contract at the club and he has been constantly linked with a move to Los Blancos.
Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the La Liga giants have contacted Liverpool over the signature of their star defender.
“In the recent days Real Madrid approached Liverpool for Trent Alexander-Arnold,” Romano said.
Despite the uncertainty over his future with the defender entering the final six months of his deal at Anfield, his behaviour behind the scenes have been impressive and the England international has not caused any trouble for his boyhood club.
Journalist David Ornstein has provided the update on how Alexander-Arnold has behaved behind the scenes.
He told NBC Sports:
“I’m told he has behaved impeccably on and off the pitch. Exemplary!
“Focused fully on succeeding with Liverpool, whatever happens in this saga.”
What next for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool?
With every passing week, it appears like the player is heading for an exit from Anfield.
Even if Liverpool have no desire of letting the player leave the club in the January transfer window, and rightly so as it could derail their chances to win the league title, Alexander-Arnold is likely to leave the club for free in the summer transfer window.
The defender can sign a pre-contract agreement with the La Liga champions now and that puts Liverpool in a weak position.
They have left it too late to agree a new contract with the defender and as we have seen a lot of times in the past, when Real Madrid knock on your door, players answer their call.
To strengthen their midfield, the Reds are keen on signing Premier League midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
