Former PSG player and current Canal+ consultant David Ginola has criticised the team’s lack of commitment and investment following their latest Champions League exit. PSG were defeated 2-0 over two legs by Bayern Munich, continuing their record of failing to progress beyond the round of 16 in the competition. Ginola spoke following the defeat on Canal+.
Speaking to Canal+, Ginola expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance, saying, “I am disgusted. We end a match like this with disappointment, which is due to a clear lack of commitment and investment. There has been a problem for years.”
Ginola also noted that some players in the team need to take responsibility for their performances, and criticized the team’s strategy of adding individual talents instead of building a solid team. “The PSG group of players needs to be more committed and invested in order to succeed in the Champions League,” he said. “Individual talents alone are not enough to win the competition. You need a solid midfield and depth on the bench.”
Ginola singled out Vitinha and Messi, saying that they did not perform to their potential. “At midfield, PSG is not up to the level of competition. Vitinha is not up to par, and neither is Messi,” he said.
