Despite the fact that they picked up some points in the title race today, German giants FC Bayern München must contend with yet another unfortunate piece of injury news.

FC Bayern München trainer Thomas made no attempt to hide the fact that the injury leading to Kingsley Coman’s subbing off in the 26th minute of today’s league win over Augsburg looked to be serious when conducting his post-match interview with Sky Germany. The French winger couldn’t leave the pitch on his own power and had to be helped off by the FCB medical staff.
Tuchel indicated that the 27-year-old would be out long-term. Bayern have publicly noted that Coman is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid cites its own sources to claim that the FCB medical staff believes that the regular starter has suffered a torn inner ligament in his left knee. Sky now confirms this report.
The nature of such an injury will sideline Coman for at least two to three months; possibly even threaten his season. Coman has scored three goals and registered three assists in 13 league starts this season. He’s scored five times across all competitions. Coman’s replacement on Saturday, Mathys Tel, may potentially now be in line for a starting slot.
