L’Équipe are reporting that Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana (20) is unlikely to join Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace this summer, despite the newly-constructed links between the two clubs.
On Thursday, Strasbourg confirmed that BlueCo, the owners of Chelsea, had taken over the club. Les Alsaciens’ president confirmed in an interview with L’Équipe that the investment firm had taken over the entirety of the club, and that he would remain as president.
It was expected, therefore, that there would be movement between the two clubs this summer, and on Friday, L’Équipe reported that Strasbourg were targeting a loan move for Fofana, whose first-team opportunities will likely be limited at Stamford Bridge next season. However, the publication reports on Saturday that, whilst Strasbourg have been following the Ivory Coast international for some time, a move is unlikely. L’Équipe adds that, currently, the exchange of players between the clubs is not a priority of the project.
