Andrey Santos has been speaking to the media about Chelsea and the amount of red cards they have picked up in recent games but the midfielder is not too concerned
Enzo Maresca read the riot act after Chelsea’s sixth red card this season – but his hot-headed players are not too concerned.
Liam Delap was sent off in the Blues ‘ 4-3 win over Wolves on Wednesday evening after being shown two yellow cards in the space of just seven minutes. Delap, who returned to action after being out for two months with a hamstring injury, will now miss Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with Tottenham.
Maresca described the 22-year-old’s red card as “embarrassing” and “very stupid”, but Andrey Santos, who scored and assisted for Chelsea at Molineux, did not seem too concerned despite it being the sixth red card in nine matches for the Blues.
“This can happen and it happened again,” Santos said.
Santos scored his first goal for Chelsea almost three years after officially joining the club, with loan spells elsewhere dominating recent times for the Brazilian.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who spent last season with Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, described his goal on Wednesday night as an “amazing moment” in his career and a dream come true for him and his family.

“It was a process, it was normal,” said Santos on three different loan spells as a Chelsea player. “Chelsea were always clear with me. I felt well in Strasbourg and now I’m here and happy and enjoying life with my teammates.
“I’m so happy to score my first goal for Chelsea. It’s an amazing moment in my career. I always dreamed of scoring this goal, as my wife and my family know.”
Santos also set up his compatriot Estevao Willian, who dinked in his third goal of the season. There has been a lot of attention on Estevao, 18, but Santos and fellow Brazilian Joao Pedro have helped the teenager settle in at Stamford Bridge.
“Me and Joao are helping Estevao a lot,” Santos explained. “He arrived here just a few months ago, in a new country with a different language. This is a process. He’s doing very well.
“He did amazing in Brazil with the national team and it was an amazing goal. I am really happy to play with him.”
