Chelsea hope their offer proves to be ‘too good to turn down’ and Matthijs de Ligt’s ‘dream to play in the Premier League is strong enough’ as the Stamford Bridge outfit go head-to-head with Bayern Munich for his signature, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Having ended the season without being able to tie players down to new contracts or acquire fresh faces, the Blues can now splash the cash thanks to Todd Boehly leading a £4.25billion takeover in May.
What’s the latest news involving de Ligt?
Chelsea opened talks with Juventus last month as they looked to negotiate a deal which will see de Ligt head to west London.
Although they are not the Dutchman’s only suitor, the Blues are understood to be ahead of Bayern Munich in the race for his services.
While Juventus would ideally like to secure a fee of £103million during the transfer window, it is thought that a fee of £69million could be enough to tempt the Serie A giants into sanctioning de Ligt’s exit.
It appears Bayern are willing to exceed that figure as the reigning Bundesliga giants are reportedly lining up an offer worth £76million.
Chelsea and Bayern have potentially been handed a boost in their bid to lure de Ligt away from the Allianz Stadium as Maurizio Arrivabene, Juventus’ chief executive, has admitted the club will not look to keep any stars against their wishes.
What has Dean Jones said about de Ligt?
Jones believes Chelsea are hopeful of de Ligt’s ambition to move to the Premier League being enough to allow them to seal a deal.
The transfer insider also feels the Blues are confident that they can offer a better financial package than Bayern.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Chelsea are hoping for two things from the de Ligt situation.
“First, that his dream to play in the Premier League is strong enough to help their case but also that their offer proves too good to turn down.
“I’ve got a feeling Chelsea think they can still win this battle by outbidding Bayern with the fee and personal terms.”
Is de Ligt likely to choose to join Chelsea?
According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, de Ligt is ‘very open’ to completing a switch to Chelsea and that will be music to head coach Thomas Tuchel’s ears.
Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport have also revealed the 38-cap Netherlands international has asked to leave Juventus after holding showdown talks with the club’s hierarchy.
However, it appears de Ligt, who has made 234 appearances over the course of his senior club career, would also be happy to join Bayern.
That is because it is understood that the £63million-rated star has reached a verbal agreement ahead of a potential move to Germany, meaning the race is seemingly wide open.
