Brighton & Hove Albion are leading the race to sign Leeds United defensive midfielder Tyler Adams, according to the Daily Mail.
The United States international only joined the Whites last summer as a replacement for Kalvin Phillips but could soon be on the move again.
Adams made 24 Premier League appearances for Leeds last season before suffering a hamstring injury that cut his promising campaign short.
The 24-year-old missed the final 12 games of the season and watched his teammates suffer relegation to the Championship. But he could be handed a swift return to top-flight football.
Being one of the better performers in an abysmal campaign for the Yorkshire club has its perks, as Adams is now subject to interest from several top-flight clubs.
The midfielder is rated at £25 million, which has attracted interest from Aston Villa, Everton and Nottingham Forest.
However, Brighton are ahead of their top-flight counterparts in the race for Adam’s signature.
Brighton see the American as a potential replacement for Moises Caicedo, who could soon hop on the next train to London amid concrete interest from Chelsea.
The Seagulls are prepared to lose the Ecuador international this summer, and they are gearing up for a mega bid from Chelsea.
The Blues have made Caicedo a priority target to reinforce their midfield with several high-profile stars already exiting Stamford Bridge, and the Ecuadorian appears eager to join them.
Adams will cost Brighton significantly less than what they will receive for Caicedo, but the Seagulls will have to fend off interest from their rivals to land their target.
He has four years left on his contract with Leeds, leaving the Whites in a strong negotiating position.
However, they could be powerless to stop the transfer considering they will play in the English second tier next season.
