Brighton eye January move for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia

Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia, according to the Daily Mail.

The Seagulls are keen on adding firepower, and Garcia is a concrete option following his struggles for Los Blancos.

After emerging towards the end of last season and taking the FIFA Club World Cup by storm with four goals and an assist, Garcia was expected to kick on this term.

Unfortunately, he has not received enough game time to make a notable impact. He has featured in 12 games so far, coming on from the bench 11 times.

Garcia wants game time and is willing to leave on loan, and Madrid would likely sanction a temporary exit.

However, Brighton are not alone in the race for his signature, with Leeds United and Sunderland interested last summer and more Premier League clubs looking to enter the picture.

Garcia is a lethal finisher, solid in the air, with a good physical build that should allow him to thrive in the rough-and-tumble of the Premier League.

But for all his talent, Brighton simply aren’t in a position where they need to gamble on another young forward.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side already has a healthy stable of striking options, each offering something different.

Danny Welbeck remains a trusted, experienced presence who links play superbly. He is on fire this season.

Behind him, Georginio Rutter is growing into the Premier League with his creativity and movement.

Meanwhile, Greek prospects Stefanos Tzimas and Charalampos Kostoulas are highly regarded internally and pushing for minutes of their own.

And if the Seagulls ever found themselves stretched, they could even recall Evan Ferguson from his loan.

Bringing in the Real Madrid youngster would only clog the pathway for their existing talents.

Garcia needs a club where he’ll play consistently. Brighton, for once, already have more than enough firepower.
