Brentford have joined this transfer window’s deepening race to sign Saïd Benrahma (28) from West Ham.
The winger has seen interest from Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais this winter as the two clubs attempt to return the creative force to France, as well as attention from the Premier League with Fulham FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Benrahma started his career with OGC Nice and it is reported that he would not be disinterested in a move back to Ligue 1.
Brentford to swoop in?
However, according to Foot Mercato, this window could see instead a different reunion for the Algerian international. Brentford, who signed the player from Nice in 2018 before selling him to West Ham in 2022, are thought to be keen on the idea of bringing him back to the club.
The winger is beloved by the Brentford support, where even his returns in rival colours, could not prevent the Brentford Community Stadium from serenading their former player.
The race to sign the winger looks only to become increasingly complicated for those involved as more and more interested parties signal their intentions. Who Benrahma would like to sign for is still unclear, but it seems to be a split between a return to Ligue 1 or remaining in the Premier League.
