West Ham United appear to be on the cusp of signing Sao Paulo talent Luizao as his move to the London Stadium is ‘as good as done’ after undergoing a medical, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told GiveMeSport.
The Hammers are just one point clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone and boss David Moyes is looking to bolster his squad during the upcoming transfer window, which opens for business next month.
West Ham transfer news – Luizao
According to MailOnline, Moyes has moved a step closer to overseeing his first arrival of the winter as West Ham have agreed to sign Luizao.
The report suggests the 20-year-old arrived in England on Monday ahead of a scheduled medical and will pen a three-and-a-half year deal.
With Luizao’s Sao Paulo contract being due to expire at the end of January, West Ham have pounced and the Brazilian has already taken to Instagram to bid farewell to his current employers.
The central defender will initially link-up with the east Londoners’ under-21 side and is not expected to feature for the first-team this season.
Luizao’s imminent arrival comes after journalist Pete O’Rourke told GiveMeSport that West Ham have ‘got a deal lined up’.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Luizao?
Sheth understands that Luizao is on the brink of being unveiled as West Ham’s latest signing as he has already undergone a medical.
The journalist is aware that the up-and-coming ace will be given time to develop with the Hammers’ under-21 side rather than being thrown straight into Premier League action.
Sheth told GiveMeSport: “It was confirmed to me that this one is as good as done. Luizao will join in January on a three-and-a-half year deal.
“But he’s seen, at 20 years old, as probably one for the future. As opposed to going straight into the first-team squad, I think he’s going to develop first in the under-21s at West Ham.
“There is a lot of truth in that and he has had a medical already with West Ham. He is set to join in January.”
Will Luizao be a good signing for West Ham?
Luizao will bring youth and physicality to West Ham, with Sofascore statistics emphasising that he has a bright future ahead of him.
The data shows he has averaged 3.8 clearances, one tackle and 0.7 interceptions per outing in the Brazilian top flight this season.
Figures like that suggest Luizao could make West Ham a tougher nut to crack when he is eventually given an opportunity to impress in the senior squad.
The South American may only be in the early stages of his career, but he has already racked up 20 appearances for boyhood club Sao Paulo, so he may prove to be a shrewd investment by Moyes.
