Boubacar Kamara extends Aston Villa contract

Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara (25) has penned a contract extension with the Premier League side, according to a report this Thursday from The Athletic. The former Marseille midfielder had two years left on his existing terms. Foot Mercato previously reported in April that Aston Villa were ready to secure Kamara’s long-term future with an “historic” contract to fend off competition from the Villains’ Premier League rivals.

Kamara featured 42 times for Aston Villa as Unai Emery’s side narrowly missed qualifying for Champions League following a controversial 2-0 loss at Manchester United on the final day of the Premier League campaign. Aston Villa were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage against eventual title winners PSG. Next season, Villa will compete in the Europa League, a competition that Unai Emery has already won four times, with Sevilla FC (2014, 2015, 2016) and Villarreal (2021).
