Borussia Dortmund injury update: Mats Hummels & Marco Reus absent from training

As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund will potentially be without two key players for their Bundesliga clash against FC Köln on Saturday afternoon.

Mats Hummels and Marco Reus both missed training on Thursday afternoon, which reduces their chances of featuring against Köln at the RheinEnergieStadion. Hummels missed the game against Darmstadt due to an infection, with Reus now also absent with a cold.

Per RN, Emre Can trained individually on Thursday morning, due to managing the player’s workload, while the Dortmund captain left 90 minutes before the start of team training. Whether Can features in the final training session on Friday will provide further clarity on whether he will play against Köln.

As a result, Niklas Süle’s chances of playing on Saturday have increased. This comes after Sebastian Kehl called out the German defender on Sky90 after Edin Terzić opted to start Can in place of Hummels in central defence against Darmstadt last weekend.
