Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund are considering adding release clauses to the contracts of Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi.
The pair’s contracts both expire in 2027, and talks about extensions are well underway, with release clauses a topic for discussion at Brackel.
Dortmund rarely put release clauses in the contracts of their players, except for exemptions such as Erling Haaland or Serhou Guirassy, but that could be about to change, and Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi could now be under consideration.
Discussions are underway on whether to grant the request for the pair, and if so, how much the clauses would be worth.
Dortmund’s ongoing contract negotiations:
Die Schwarzgelben are continuing to work towards extensions for both Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi.
Schlotterbeck has recently rejected Dortmund’s first contract offer as he looks for a higher salary. The 25-year-old is currently paid less than Adeyemi on his current deal.
While Adeyemi’s representatives were the ones to first push for a release clause. The German international’s agent is Jorge Mendes.
