Towards the end of the winter transfer window, SC Freiburg completed the signing of former Heidenheim winger Jan-Niklas Beste from Benfica for a reported €8 million.
And as Freiburg coach Julian Schuster revealed at a press conference on Thursday, the 26-year-old has impressed immediately.
“We are delighted that Niklas has officially joined us. We have had great conversations from the very beginning and are of course absolutely convinced that he can help our game,” said Schuster.
“He can play in several positions in attack and has a great left foot. The way he’s presented himself in the few training sessions so far, he could be an option.”
Beste will be competing for playing time with the likes of Merlin Röhl, Vincenzo Grifo and Ritsu Doan.
