Inter-Porto will be like a family reunion for the two coaches as Simone Inzaghi and Sergio Conceição have been team mates at Lazio, winning the Scudetto in the 1999/00 season.
Conceição has played for Inter too, featuring in 65 games overall and scoring two goals from 2001 to 2003 and who knows, maybe one day he could become the Nerazzurri’s coach.
Inter legend Giuseppe Bergomi did not rule out this scenario in an interview he gave to SempreInter recently.
“Sergio Conceição is a coach with character,” Bergomi told.
“And these coaches have always done well at Inter. But I will stop here as Inzaghi has done an excellent job which should not be called into any doubt today”.
Bergomi has talked about the game too and he gave an interesting point of view about Porto.
“This is the toughest one of all the draws. I’ll explain: looking at it you’ll say ‘last year we played on equal terms with Liverpool, we played two great matches, this year we can do it’. This is true, but watch out”.
“Porto have Mehdi Taremi who is the player that creates the most chances out of all players in the Champions League…”
“There are quick players like Evanilson and Galeno. Otavio and Eustaquio get stuck in well, a tall defence. They do have their points of weakness too, they are narrow on the pitch and so Inter can hurt them with a fifth man”.
Porto have a pretty record against Italian clubs and knocked out Juventus from the competition a couple of seasons ago and last season, they managed to beat Milan in the group stages. They also beat Roma back in 2019, putting three past them in Portugal.
