According to a report by Fabrice Hawkins, Internazionale Milan’s Benjamin Pavard (28) is set to replace Wesley Fofana (23) in the France squad for the upcoming fixtures against Israel and Italy.
Fofana had been expected to join Didier Deschamps’ squad for the two Nations League games. However, Chelsea FC are thought to have asked the national team not to take any risks with the centre-back after he reported pain in his knee.
Fofana has been an integral part of the Chelsea squad this season after he missed the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign due to an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament. Fofana has not appeared for France since the season began, although he was called up for the last two fixtures but remained on the bench.
Benjamin Pavard returns to national team set-up
This will be Pavard’s first call-up since the summer Euros where he was part of the squad that was eliminated by Spain 2-1 in the semi-finals.
