As per reports from Le Parisien, Bayern Munich have opted against releasing Frenchman Mathys Tel for the upcoming Olympics.
Despite being named in France’s provisional squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics by Thierry Henry, Bayern have informed the French federation that Mathys Tel will not be released for the tournament.
During last week’s press briefing, Henry outlined that he had received the green light from the club. “I had discussions with Bayern, yes. They told me that Mathys can come.”
However, a week later, it is reported that the case was not entirely settled, with Bayern opting against the release of Tel, allowing new coach Vincent Kompany to have Tel fully available for pre-season.
Thierry Henry and the French federation now have to look elsewhere ahead of the preparation for the games, with the squad gathering in Clairefontaine this Sunday.
