Bayern Munich open talks with highly-rated Feyenoord full-back Givairo Read

Bayern Munich are exploring a move to sign Feyenoord’s rising defender Givairo Read, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Bavarians’ board member for sport, Max Eberl, is looking for a quality full-back in the market and has opened talks with Read’s camp.

However, the German giants will face tough competition from Premier League clubs for the Dutch prodigy. His contract with Feyenoord runs until 2029.

The 19-year-old exploded onto the scene with his eye-catching performances in the 2024/25 campaign.

He racked up two goals and seven assists in Eredivisie and put in a solid performance in Feyenoord’s shocking win against AC Milan in the Champions League knockout play-offs.

Read has carried his fine form this season, delivering two assists in nine league games. He also found the net in the Europa League win against Panathinaikos last week.

The Dutch prospect is an excellent ball carrier and progressive passer who is highly effective in the final third. He is defensively solid, too.

Elsewhere, Bayern midfielder Konrad Laimer has completely transformed into a top-quality full-back under Vincent Kompany’s guidance due to the injury crisis in the defence.

The Austrian has become indisputable for Bayern this season, showcasing his versatility as a right-back and left-back.

He delivered a hat-trick of assists in the 4-0 win against Club Brugge in the Champions League.

Laimer’s contract expires in June 2027, and Bayern are looking to reward him with an extension for his great performances.

Sacha Boey has been gaining confidence with his impressive performances, while Josip Stanisic returned from injury in the recent 4-1 win against Koln in the DFB-Pokal second round.
