Bayern Munich and Chelsea have opened talks concerning the potential transfer of Christopher Nkunku, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Since moving to Chelsea in a €60 million deal back in 2023, Nkunku’s time in West London has not gone as planned.
He had to deal with a lengthy injury spell early on in his Chelsea career, and a combination of struggles for both form and fitness has seen the Frenchman find himself on the fringes of the first team more often than not.
The 27-year-old has been made available for a move this summer, and while Inter Milan and RB Leipzig have shown an interest in Nkunku this summer, Bayern now look to be his most probable destination.
Bayern’s interest in Nkunku comes as the Bavarians look to strengthen their options up front after the recent departure of Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and most recently Kingsley Coman.
The Bundesliga champions would ideally like to take Nkunku on loan, but Chelsea are holding out for a permanent deal despite the player having four years left on his current deal.
For Nkunku, a move to Bayern Munich could provide the fresh start needed to revitalise his career off the back of an underwhelming spell in West London.
Chelsea, on the other hand, would get to cut their losses and make room for new acquisitions.
The Blues have already brought in Estevao, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap but are keen on more attacking reinforcements, with moves for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho currently being worked on.
