While the purchase of Portuguese fullback/wingback Joao Cancelo was never truly a likely outcome, Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg are both currently reporting that FC Bayern München will waste no further time pondering the Manchester City loanee’s future. The Portuguese international will definitely return to his EPL parent club now that the season has concluded.
A €70 million purchase option always lay beyond the range of even German football’s largest club. Both sources report that the Bavarians have informed the 29-year-old of his departure. Cancelo scored one goal and registered six assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for the FCB during the second half of the season.
News #Cancelo: Understand Joao has many options. Barcelona is still one of them. Talks took place. But they can’t push for him at this stage because of their financial situation.
