As so often this season, Luis Díaz played a key role for Bayern Munich in their 4-1 DFB-Pokal win over 1. FC Köln on Wednesday, scoring and providing an assist.

However, just as in the previous Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Colombian forward also missed a clear-cut chance, this time firing over the bar in a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.

Still, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl sees no cause for concern.

“We’re extremely happy,” Eberl told reporters after the game, praising Díaz for his “intensity and his willingness to always be involved both offensively and defensively.”

“You could say he had a big chance at Gladbach, and he had a big chance today,” Eberl added.

“But he keeps getting into those positions! He makes those 60- or 70-meter sprints – and not just forward, but also back. That’s why he’s an absolute asset for us.”
